Our Vision
To lead the transformation of the Kurdistan Region into a knowledge-based economy by establishing Tishk International University as a top-tier research hub in the Middle East, recognized for translating academic inquiry into tangible social and industrial impact.
Our Mission
Our mission is to cultivate a vibrant research ecosystem that bridges the gap between theoretical science and regional needs. We commit to supporting our faculty with competitive grants, providing students with advanced laboratory access, and maintaining rigorous ethical standards that ensure TIU research is respected globally, as evidenced by Scopus-indexed publications and international patent filings.
Objectives
- Digital Research Governance
- Objective: To establish a transparent, high-utility digital ecosystem that serves as the central interface for TIU’s research activities.
- Key Result: Launch a well-developed web portal featuring faculty representative profiles, real-time lab equipment tracking, and a digitized archive for research findings.
- Global Ranking & Metric Optimization
- Objective: To systematically align institutional outputs with the performance indicators of Webometrics, QS, and THE Rankings.
- Key Result: Increase the university’s citation-per-faculty ratio and “International Research Network” score through targeted involvement in global ranking requirements.
- Ethical Integrity & Standardized Operations
- Objective: To professionalize the administrative framework of research through strict adherence to international ethical standards.
- Key Result: Full implementation of COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) requirements and a centralized digital library of forms, proposal formats, and ethical regulations.
- Advanced Capacity Building
- Objective: To foster a high-competency research culture through continuous, need-based professional development.
- Key Result: Execute a minimum of 10 annual training events, including symposia and workshops, classified by faculty-specific needs.
- High-Impact Publication Support
- Objective: To remove financial and logistical barriers for researchers aiming for top-tier scientific journals.
- Key Result: Establish an active APC (Article Processing Charge) Support Fund and secure at least one major international Publication House subscription for university-wide access.
- International Mobility & Academic Exchange
- Objective: To integrate the TIU research community into the global academic network through fellowships and invited expertise.

- Scholarly Publishing Autonomy (TIU Press)
- Objective: To transform TIU into a primary producer of academic knowledge through institutional publishing.
- Key Result: Formalize the “TIU Press” establishment for books and conference proceedings, while narrowing the scope of current journals to improve specialized indexing (Scopus/WoS).
- Industry-Academia Synergy & Applied Innovation
- Objective: To bridge the gap between theoretical research and the regional market/community needs.
- Key Result: Launch Industry Research Panels with NGOs and private companies, resulting in at least three solution-driven joint projects per year.

- Key Result: Submit a minimum of five high-impact proposals annually to international funding agencies (e.g., Erasmus+, Horizon) and join three or more international research associations.
- Dedicated Research Infrastructure
- Objective: To provide an environment focused exclusively on scientific discovery and community problem-solving.
- Key Result: Establishment of “Research-Only” laboratories and a dedicated team of researchers operating under the directorate to state and solve government and ministry-level problems.
