The “visiting professor” event with Prof. Dr. Azhar Daoud at Tishk International University (TIU), which is organized by the TIU Research Center in collaboration with the faculties, consists of five distinct segments scheduled for March 3-5, 2026, and will be held at the Ibn Sina Hall in the New Dentistry building.
The first event is a roundtable discussion on March 3, 2026, organized by the Faculty of Applied Science and the Biology Education Department. Focused on open problems in neurology, this session invites TIU researchers to discuss critical topics such as the validation of blood-based biomarkers for early neurodegenerative diagnosis, microglial polarization, the integration of AI and wearable “digital phenotyping” in clinical trials, methods for overcoming the blood-brain barrier for targeted drug delivery, and the impact of the gut-brain axis on neuroinflammation.
The second event, also held on March 3, 2026, is an international workshop partnered with the Dentistry Faculty titled “Bridging the Gap Between Lab Research and Clinical Care”. This session features a seminar on clinical experiences by Prof. Dr. Azhar Daoud, followed by a presentation from Dr. Bushra Rashid regarding early dental referrals for children with disabilities and the integration of oral health into early medical care.
The third event takes place on March 4, 2026, in collaboration with the Faculty of Pharmacy. This international workshop is titled “From Pathology to Potential: Reimagining Care for Patients with Mental Disabilities”. It includes a workshop led by Prof. Dr. Azhar Daoud, followed by a Q&A session and a presentation by a local TIU speaker on the same topic.
The fourth event is scheduled for March 4, 2026, and is organized in partnership with the Nursing Faculty. Titled “International Workshop: Leading Global Health Equity and Patient-Centered Innovation,” this session includes a seminar on health care presented by Prof. Dr. Azhar Daoud, followed by a seminar on the same subject by Prof. Dr. Norhan Z. Shakir.
The fifth event, held by the Research Center on March 4, 2026, consists of a meeting to explore collaboration opportunities with medical companies and NGOs to develop project proposals for TIU researchers. This is followed by a dinner meeting in the evening with Prof. Dr. Azhar Daoud to further discuss these collaborative possibilities.
